  • Homeowner reportedly scares away burglar near Odessa

  • Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a burglar who broke into an occupied home near Odessa on Wednesday.

  • Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a burglar who broke into an occupied home near Odessa on Wednesday.
    The man broke into the house in the unit block of Appoquin Drive about 2:20 p.m., but fled the area after encountering the homeowner, according to New Castle County Police Department spokesman Cpl. John Weglarz.
    County police, Delaware State Police troopers and canine officers reportedly canvassed the area after the break-in was reported, but were unable to locate the suspect.
    The man is described as white and about 5’9” with a slim build. He last was seen wearing a black shirt or hoodie, a black knit hat and dark blue jeans.
    Weglarz said area residents reported seeing a dark-colored pick-up truck in the area around the time of the break-in, although it is not known if the vehicle is related to the burglary.
