Mary Madeline Lockerman, loving mother and nanny, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2009, in Wilmington. She was 86.

    She was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Earleville, Md., daughter of the late Frank Hines and Mary Plants. She grew up in Earleville.
    Mrs. Lockerman enjoyed yard sales, shopping and going to the beach. She also took pleasure in sewing, going for walks, and spending time with her friends and family.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Lockerman; and her beautiful and special daughter, Theresa Lockerman.
    She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, James and Jannie Nichols; a daughter Arlene Haley; three granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Theresa Haley, Miranda and Matt Capello, and Brittany Rich, all of Townsend; a brother and a sister-in-law, James and Geneva Hines; a sister and a brother-in-law, Ann and Joe Seward, both of Elkton, Md.; several nieces and nephews; and an “adopted” daughter, Mary Picard.
    Services will be held Thursday, April 30, at noon at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 226 E. Main St., in Cecilton, Md., where friends may call one hour earlier.
    In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made the Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
