Pell Gardens in Chesapeake City, Md. will soon swarm with hungry brides looking for the best local vendors that will make their wedding shine.
The Chesapeake City Bridal Show on Sunday, Oct. 4, is sponsored by the Chesapeake City Merchants Association and will feature 53 wedding professionals showing off their skills and services. Brides will peruse the gardens and talk to venue representatives, photographers, entertainers, bakers, florists and more.
Jo Anne Hewlett, co-owner of Make a Memory Event Planning/Photo booths located in Newark and Middletown who is coordinating the bridal show, said each vendor category will have no more than four professionals and will represent a variety of price ranges.
“I really wanted us to have the top notch people there that can fit [the bride’s] needs and their budget so they can have a dream come true wedding,” she said.
Hewlett said the Back 2 Life Band and DJ GK Entertainment will provide the evening’s entertainment and hors d’oeuvres will be prepared by the Bayard House, Chesapeake Inn and Immediato’s Italian Specialties in Middletown.
She said the major event of the night will be the fashion show put on by Cathy Sowdon of the Bridal & Tuxedo Shoppe in Newark. Elana’s Broad Street Florist & Gifts will provide the flowers for the fashion show.
“It’s going to be huge and right on the cobblestone, so people can sit back and see all the new fashions for the year,” Hewlett said. “It’s killer.”
Hewlett said this is the second year for the bridal show. Last year the show drew 400 to 500 people.
“We’re hoping that we’re going to regenerate more than last year,” she said.
Eddie Greer, general manager at Chesapeake Inn, said the Pell Gardens has recently been refurbished with new landscaping and looks beautiful.
“It’s going to look phenomenal,” he said. “[Brides] can see the quaint historic town of Chesapeake City and it’s right on the water. It’s going to be a well-run, organized event.”
Hewlett said she is looking forward to seeing all of the brides come out and have a good time planning their big day.
“It’s going to be a really nice show out on the water," she said.
