On Sept. 23, two Maryland men were charged with shoplifting after allegedly stealing items from three Middletown businesses.

Charged with felony shoplifting, possession of shoplifting tools, second- and third-degree conspiracy were Terry Johnson, 56, of Annapolis, and Barry Johnson, 50 of Centerville. They were committed to the Howard Young Correctional Facility after failing to post $8,000 secured bond.

Middletown Police said they were dispatched to a reported shoplifting at Acme, and a subject vehicle description was given. Responding officers said they observed the Gold Lincoln Town Car vehicle and conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Diamond State Dr. and Middletown-Warwick Rd. Police said property from Acme was located, along with property from Middletown Home Depot and Happy Harry’s.

Police said both suspects confessed to driving from Annapolis, Md. with the intent to steal items from local stores that they would later sell. The items were worth $1,165 and included five hand held tool batteries, 10 packages of Oil of Olay face cream and 20 packages of over the counter Prilosec medication, police said.
