The Delaware Children’s Museum will celebrate its impending opening date at its Grand Opening Gala Friday, April 9, from 7 p.m. to midnight.
Guests will dance to the big band-to-Motown sounds of Soulsystem Orchestra, enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres by Sugarfoot Fine Foods and take part in a silent auction and a treasure chest key raffle, all in the new home of the Museum, located at 550 Justison St., on the Riverfront, Wilmington.
The Grand Opening Gala is the first time the public will see the interior of the greatly anticipated Museum.
“Gala attendees will be the first to see an essentially complete museum, and for the first time, see it without hard hats,” said Executive Director Julie Van Blarcom. “Early-bird membership holders will have limited opportunities to preview the Museum with their families before April 24, but the Gala is the first opportunity for grownups to have some playtime.”
Co-chaired by Hallie Olivere Biden, Joseph R. Biden, III, Fontayne Rollins Fox and Stephen Joseph Fox, DCM’s Grand Opening Gala is a fundraising event, and will serve as a joyful celebration marking the beginning of a new era for the DCM.
The Gala is an adults-only event for ages 21 and up. Tickets are $125 and may be purchased online at www.delawarechildrensmuseum.org/gala until April 2. Cocktail attire is the dress of the evening.
