Rebecca Walker recently announced her candidacy as a democrat for the 9th district State House of Representatives, from which Rep. Dick Cathcart will retire in November.


    Rebecca Walker recently announced her candidacy as a democrat for the 9th district State House of Representatives, from which Rep. Dick Cathcart will retire in November.
     “As a native Delawarean, and someone who has been an active participant in the passage of a number of health care laws for Delaware families, I feel positive about my accomplishments and I am energized by the prospect of taking my experience in the legislative process to the next level" Walker stated in a press release.
     The press release stated Walked has served her community for more than 25 years. Currently, she serves as the president of the Delaware Board of Nursing, is an educator at Wesley College in the nursing department and has lectured extensively on nursing practice, health policy and legal issues. She has been a Delaware Volunteer Firefighter, an emergency medical technician and an emergency department nurse, and currently serves on several local community boards.
     “Over the last year I’ve had the privilege of working with members of the General Assembly and drafting legislation regarding predatory healthcare providers, discipline enforcement and streamlining regulatory complaint process, and testifying before the Senate to assist in the passage of the bills,” she stated. “I want to continue to serve my community by working on bills to make my home state a better place to live and raise a family.”
     Walker is a practicing nurse and attorney. She lives in Townsend with her husband, Scott. She has three children, Brittney, Austin and Colin.
