First State Favorites: Best candy shop
NEW CASTLE | The Squirrel’s Nest
ADDRESS 1 N. Broad St., Middletown
OWNER Nancy Kemble
YEAR OPENED 1980
Describe what makes your business stand out: It’s all in the “wow” factor. When people come into our store they are taken back by such a large variety of all natural candies. Candies made with real food, not chemicals. After all these years I am still passionate about the business and love what I do. I have stood strong to my roots and why I started, to provide high quality all natural confections. I have created a social atmosphere in my store where customers trust they can buy high quality products at a fair price. They love coming in to chat and see what’s new. Customers also come from states away to visit our quaint little shop in Middletown.
What’s new about your business this year, or what do you have planned? With more awareness to the harm of artificial ingredients in our diets, the natural market is expanding. It is always exciting when I am able to provide new products to my customers.
