   Joe Laznik scored just three minutes into the game, and Appoquinimink High controlled host Middletown in a 14-7 boys lacrosse decision Tuesday night at Cavalier Stadium.

   The Jaguars improved to 9-2 and kept their state tournament hopes alive, while Middletown fell to 5-6. The intra-school district rivalry is tied at 1-1 after MHS rolled at Jaguar Stadium in 2010.

   This time, Appoquinimink never trailed. The Jaguars led 5-3 at halftime, then got goals from Doug Stopera, Ryan Corcoran and Cole Hutchison in the first 2 1/2 minutes of the third quarter for an 8-3 lead.

   Middletown pulled within 8-5 after three quarters on goals by Josh Leach and Ryan Camac.

   The teams traded goals early in the fourth quarter, but Appoquinimink scored four straight times for a 13-6 advantage with 3:35 remaining. Scoring in the decisive run were Matt Powel, Corcoran, Hutchison and Peter DiSabatino.

   Appo's Corcoran had four goals and an assist, while Brad Logue added two goals and two assists. Hutchison and Doug Stopera each scored two goals, while Ryan Payne had a goal and assist. Laznik, DiSabatino and Powel added one goal each.

   Camac led Middletown with three goals and an assist. Michael Suarez and Leach each scored twice. Suarez, Matt Lenoiri, Adam Brown and Stevenson had assists.
