Olive Jane Shallcross, 93, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Millcroft Senior Living Community in Newark.
Olive Jane Shallcross, 93, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Millcroft Senior Living Community in Newark. Jane was born on November 29,1918, the daughter of the late Theodore V. Whitlock and Olive Lockwood (Whitlock) Stavely. She was raised in Middletown and lived most of her life next to the Shallcross family automobile dealership in Middletown. Jane was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Middletown where she taught Sunday School, served on the Vestry Property Committee and also the Old St. Anne's Cemetery Committee. She was a 60 year member of the Women of St. Anne's and served as the organization's first President. She was a past board member of the Everett Theatre and a member of the Jean Birch Senior Center.
Mrs. Shallcross was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Fred M. Shallcross, Sr. She is survived by three sons and dayghters-in-law, Fred M. Jr. and Carolyn of Middletown, Thomas and Betty of Middletown, and Richard and Lynn of Warwick, MD. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Todd Shallcross, Christopher Shallcross, Michael Shallcross, Nicole Thomas, and Brooke Wilkins and four great grandchildren, Alexis, Kaylyn, Noland, and Mia.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Annes Episcopal Church, 115 E. Green Street in Middletown. The Shallcross family will be receiving friends immediately after the service in the Great Hall of the Church, where a luncheon will be held. The interment will follow the luncheon at Old St. Annes Cemetery at aproximately
2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the Shallcross family suggests donations to St. Annes Episcopal Church, PO Box 421, Middletown, DE. 19709.
