Inez M. Collins, 93, of Middletown, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE with her loving husband and daughters at her side.
Born on October 5, 1918 in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of the late Ruby T. (McCarns) and Horace Pierson.
As a young child Inez attended P.S. duPont Elementary School near Wilmington and in her high school years attended the Middletown Academy on Broad Street in Middletown.
Inez loved being a wonderful homemaker and devoted mother and in later years was a loving grandmother who enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren. In her earlier years, she enjoyed crocheting.  She loved cooking, canning and working in both her flower and vegetable gardens.  As an avid reader, she especially enjoyed working on crossword puzzles.  Inez will always be remembered by many for her love of Christmas by starting just after Thanksgiving in preparing more than 130 dozen home baked cookies to share with her loving family and dear friends.
She served as a board member of Old Union Church and the Delaware Farm Bureau and was a founding member of The Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village in Dover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Horace, Joseph and Mitchell Pierson.
Inez leaves many wonderful and cherished memories to her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, D. Corbit Collins; two daughters, Terri Leon and Kim Philipp and her husband, Kurt; four grandchildren, Gwen Leon, Caryn Jochen and her husband, Ed, Kate Philipp and Michael Philipp and his fiancé, Katie; one great-granddaughter, Crystle Jochen and one step-great-granddaughter, Kayla Jochen, as well as many dear friends in the farming community.
Funeral services will be held 11 am on Saturday, February 25 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown, where friends may visit with Inez’ family one hour prior to services.  Interment will follow in Townsend Cemetery.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions can be made to either Delaware Hospice, Inc., 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810, to the Old Union Church Society, c/o Sara Holland, 113 E.
