Elizabeth J. Outten, 88, of Townsend, died Tuesday, February 28, 2012.
Elizabeth was born in Chicago, IL in 1923 and is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold Outten. Also surviving are children Thomas Outten and his wife K. Ann of Loxahatchee, FL and Mary Wagner of Hatboro, PA. A daughter, Katie Raiser, is deceased. Son in law, John Raiser, also survives, as well as four grandchildren, Jennifer and Amy Wagner and Christian and Elizabeth Outten. Four brothers and one sister are deceased.
Elizabeth was a graduate of Mundelein College in Chicago (now a part of Loyola University in Chicago). After teaching briefly she left and moved to Hawaii and taught school one year on Ford Island. She met her husband in Hawaii and they married in Newport, RI in 1952 as he was then teaching at the Officer?s Training School. Because of his career in the Navy, they moved often so she did teach in other states too. She was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality at St. Polycarp Roman Catholic Church in Smyrna.
A memorial mass was held at St. Polycarp on Saturday, March 10.
Interment was privately held in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Newark, DE.
