  • William ‘Bill’ Eugene Dutton, 63, of Richland Center died Friday, March 2, 2012, at the Richland Hospital. He was born November 8, 1948, in Elkton, Maryland, the son of Charles Paul and Ella Hewes Dutton.

  • William ‘Bill’ Eugene Dutton, 63, of Richland Center died Friday, March 2, 2012, at the Richland Hospital. He was born November 8, 1948, in Elkton, Maryland, the son of Charles Paul and Ella Hewes Dutton.
    Bill married Judith Tull on July 22, 1967, in Middletown, Delaware. He served four years in the US Air Force, served three years as a Delaware State Trooper, owned and operated a dairy farm near Gillingham for 15 years, and was the owner/operator of the Battery Box until he retired in 2010. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and doing things to raise money for veterans. He was a Mason who served as Past Master of Richland Lodge 66. He was a proud member and president of the Vietnam Vets Chapter 7, finance officer of the American Legion Post 13, a member of DAV, the 40et8, Lions Club, a co-chairman of the Richland County Veteran’s Memorial Committee and served on the Veteran’s Service Commission of Richland County. Bill was very proud of his Veteran’s Advocacy Award he received in 2008 for his ‘Outstanding Service to Veterans.’
    Bill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judy, two sons, Eric (special friend Christel) Dutton of Sheboygan, James Lee ‘JL’ Dutton of Grafton, very special granddaughter, Alexia Lois ‘Lexi’ Dutton, mother Ella, aka Tillie, Dutton of Richland Center, brother James Paul Dutton of Richland Center, adopted brother, Alan W. (Linda) Dutton of Smyrna, DE, many other relatives, and friends.
    Bill was preceded in death by his father.
    Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in the Richland Center Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites provided by the Local Military Memorial Honors Unit. Friends called on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 4 until 7 p.m. and again on Wednesday, March 7, 2012, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials in Bill’s name be given to the Vietnam Vets Chapter 7 or the Richland County Veterans Memorial.
