Lynn Alexis Scannell, age 62, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at her home on Bayview Road in Middletown, DE.
She was the daughter of the late Ruth (Argoe) and Harold Scannell.
Lynn was a graduate of Middletown High School (1967) and attended the University of Delaware. She was a paralegal by profession.
She will always be remembered for her smile and especially for her love of animals which began when she received her first pony at the age of two. From there, her life was centered on show horses who won many honors and most recently her Chesapeake Bay retrievers who also won many ribbons and trophies. Along with many organizations, Lynn, her mother and father were original members of the Middletown Pony Club.
Lynn is survived by her aunts and uncles, Firman Argoe (Barbara), Althea Johnston, William Argoe (Mary Ella), James Argoe (Pat), Joanne Argoe, and Daniel Scannell (Barbara). She has many loving cousins, cousins-in-law and friends.
A special appreciation goes to Wendy Bobon, Lynn’s cousin and Wendy’s husband, Dave and their three children who have been an extremely faithful group in overseeing the care of Lynn’s animals and personal concerns.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown, where friends may visit with Lynn’s family from Noon to
2 p.m. Interment will follow in Forest Cemetery.
To honor Lynn’s love for horses, memorial contributions can be made to Summerwinds Stables, 148 Greystone Road, Hartly, DE 19953, which is now the new home for her horses, Lark and Doc. Lynn’s two Chesapeake show dogs, Tink and Charlie, will be buried with her along with her parents, Ruth and Harold. Curlie, another of Lynn’s loving show dogs, is now at her new home in Woodside, NJ. Lynn, her horses and retrievers will be sadly missed.
