  • Eleanor Lee Belote, 79, of Middletown, DE passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 surrounded by her family.


    Born on July 20, 1932 in Northampton County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Roy T Ferguson Sr. and Beatrice East Ferguson.

  • Eleanor Lee Belote, 79, of Middletown, DE passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 surrounded by her family.
    Born on July 20, 1932 in Northampton County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Roy T Ferguson Sr. and Beatrice East Ferguson.
    She married the love of her life, the late Hugh B. Belote on May 12, 1951.
    Not only did they build a family but they built a business together, B & M Plumbing. Throughout the years, her home was the one that all the neighborhood children congregated.  She loved to be outside with nature and took great pride in her flower beds. She also crocheted many afghans and loved to make hand sewn quilts. Above all else, she dearly loved her family.
    In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her grandson, Christopher A. Belote; sisters, Lucille Brady Hann and Virginia Lee Ferguson; half-sister, Elsie F. Hanson and a brother, Roy Thomas Ferguson, Jr.
    She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Mark McDonald of Clayton, two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Maryann Belote of Smyrna and Peter Belote of Wilmington; grandchildren, Sharon and Steven Burton of Hartly, Danielle and Jay Maichle of Marydel, Katelyn Belote of Middletown, and Robert Belote Jr. of Smyrna; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan and Christopher Burton of Hartly, Trent Maichle of Marydel; step grandchildren, Norman Alexander, Jr, Amanda Alexander, Brianna Alexander, and step-granddaughter, Felicia Alexander, whom she had a special place in her heart for, all of Smyrna and a step great-grandchild, Serenity Alexander of Smyrna. She is also survived by her sisters, Nelda Stant of Exmore, VA, Margaret Bull and her husband, Martin of Parksley, VA and Emma Sue Thompson of Dothan, AL.
    A memorial service will be held 7 pm on Thursday, June 14 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown, where friends may visit with her family one hour prior. Graveside services will be held 1 pm on Saturday, June 16 at Red Bank Baptist Church Cemetery in Marionville, VA.  A Celebration of Life will follow at the home of Margaret and Martin Bull, Parksley, VA.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the New Castle County SPCA, 455 Stanton Christiana Road, Newark, DE 19713.
