  • On the 5th of June 2012, Edward D. Bennetch ended his adventures here on Earth, surrounded by his loving wife, Dorothy, his son, Joe, and grandson, Cole, in the comfort of his own home. After a brief hospital stay, his wishes to die at home were honored.
Born and raised in Woodbury, New Jersey, Ed traveled throughout the United States. He was a self starter and learned at a young age to cook. His passion for cooking landed him several jobs as the head chef in fine dining restaurants. His specialties were homemade meatballs and cheesecake, and also included breakfast foods and any dish he chose to prepare. Keeping his recipes in his head, he was not willing to share them.
Ed was an outgoing man who was very sociable. He made friends on a regular basis and he had much love for his family. Ed was sure to keep contact with his family and friends via telephone. Making many calls each week, he was sure to brighten someone’s day. It has been expressed by many they will miss their weekly call.
An avid Cowboys fan, Ed is preceded in death by his beagle, Dallas. He also was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Bennetch; his daughter, Elizabeth Bennetch; and his sister, Joann Vincent.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dot Bennetch of Middletown, DE; daughter, Jennifer Bennetch of PA; son, Joseph Bennetch of MA, and grandson, Cole Bennetch who resided with him and he especially adored. He also leaves behind daughters Faith Cox of ID, Maryanne Bennetch of CA, Karen Warfield of NJ, Jane Walsh of FL, and two natural children who are estranged; his sister, Dorothy Bennetch; his favorite uncle, Peter Gabriel; 11 grandchildren, one new arrival, and another anticipated by summer’s end.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Edward D. Bennetch’s life on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Silver Lake Elementary/Park in Middletown under the pavilion.
