With more than 27,000 coming through Middletown each year for the annual Olde-Tyme Peach Festival, DelDOT and the town of Middletown have agreed to close down certain roads Aug. 18 for the event.

The public is urged to use three main parking areas for the festival, all which have free shuttles for pick up and drop off.

Shuttle busses will circulate from 8 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. that Saturday from Louis L. Redding Middle School on East Main Street, the Appoquinimink Public Library and the Dutch Country Farmers Market, both on North Broad Street.

The street closures will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street from Broad Street to Scott Street, and on North Cass Street from Main Street to Pennington Street.

The following parking lots will also be closed: Green Street at Town Hall, Boys and Girls Club, Verizon, and VHC Fire Hall; on Main Street at Forest Presbyterian Church; on Pennington Street behind Middletown Hardware (except customers), Cook Family Dentistry, and Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church; and on North Broad Street behind the Academy Building (former Town Hall).

Any vehicles parked in those areas overnight Friday Aug. 17 must be moved by 6 a.m. Saturday, after which they will be towed to allow for booth set-up.
