  • Delaware Mud Run returns to Middletown

  • Annual event benefiting the Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware will return to Frightland on Sunday, Sept. 23.

  • The muddiest event in Middletown is just around the corner.

    The Delaware Mud Run, which benefits the Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware, will return to Frightland on Sunday, Sept. 23.
    The 5K is a race with boot camp style obstacles that have either been surrounded by or filled with mud.
    ‘Mudders’ run the approximately 3-mile race while diving, swimming, climbing and crawling their way through mud to victory.
    The deadline to register is Sept. 17 and costs $240 per four person team. 
    Even if you’re not a Mudder, you can still sign up to volunteer at the event, or just go to watch your friends and family get really, really dirty!
    Five things to know about the Delaware Mud Run:
  • All proceeds benefit the Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware, so you know that all money that you have donated or used to register will be going towards a good cause.
  • Gates at Frightland will open at 7 a.m. just as the sun is coming up and the first wave of runners will take off at 10 a.m. The final heat of the day will begin at 1 p.m. Each heat will take about an hour, but the gates won’t close until 3 p.m.
  • There will be colored bibs for runners this year. Depending on the heat your team is in, will depend on the color of your bib.
  •  If you’re not old enough to run in the Delaware Mud Run, there is a “Junior” version of the event held at Frightland in June. All proceeds from this event, which is a 1.5-mile version of the big race, also go towards the Leukemia Research Foundation of Delaware.
  • There is a lot of mud. Last year, one event included an ice bath of mud that runners had to swim towards. It’s a good time for everyone, so come on out and get muddy! (Or stay dry, that’s up to you!)
