  • The St. Georges Tech Hawks stayed undefeated by shutting out Brandywine on Saturday morning behind the two-headed running attack of Vaughn Simmons-Williams and Tymiere Griffin.
Simmons-Williams and Griffin combined for 206 rushing yards and one touchdown on the ground. Griffin added a 21-yard receiving touchdown from QB Zachary Wright.
After a scoreless first quarter that included a couple of hiccups for the Hawks, the feeling-out process was over. St. Georges Tech posted 18 second quarter points, a 44-yard rushing touchdown from Simmons-Williams and two touchdown's through the air from Wright to Griffin and Jiare Hicks.
Wright had a spectacular day in terms of being efficient from the pocket. Wright went 4-for-7, three of those completions for touchdowns.
The Hawks defense gave up little to Brandywine in the way of offense. They stifled the Brandywine offense, making it difficult to get into any sort of rhythm. When Brandywine tried to move the ball on the ground, they were stuffed, sometimes behind the line of scrimmage. When the Bulldogs went to the air, receivers were met by hard hits or passes were picked off.
The victory moves the Hawks to 3-0, next week they'll travel to Christiana to take on the 0-3 Vikings.
