The AHS Jaguars football team thrashed Newark Friday night, only letting their opponent get on the scoreboard once.

The Appoquinimink High School Jaguars football team left Newark in the dust Friday night, beating the

Yellowjackets at their own stadium 41-7.

The Jaguars kept a strong defense in the first half, not allowing their opponents to even get on the scoreboard until the third quarter.

Running back Andre Connally made two touch downs in the first half, a 22-yard run in the first quarter and a 52-yard run in the second, leading the game 14-0 at the half time mark.

Both teams got on the scoreboard in the third quarter, but the Jaguars still kept a strong lead.

Wide receiver Malacchi Esdale caught a 24-yard pass from quarter back Landon Archangelo in the third, bringing the Jaguars up to 21 points.

The Yellowjackets' offense made their only touch down of the night with a five-yard pass in the third.

Both the Jaguars' offense and defense were unstoppable in the fourth quarter, with three touchdowns and two extra points.

Connally made a 3-yard run followed by an interception by running back Saadiq Dicks for the team's second touch down of the fourth quarter.

The game ended with a 12-yard run by Jeremiah Bull for the team's sixth touchdown of the night, ending the game 41-7.
