Police arrested a Middletown man Monday who they say burglarized a home in Newark. DSP is asking for the public's assistance in locating the second suspect.
A Middletown man was arrested Monday after burglarizing a Newark home and leaving the scene.
Delaware State Police arrested William Walden, 34, and charged him with burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
Police said that at 2:39 p.m., the 56-year-old homeowner of the residence on the 200 block of Chapman Road in Newark and his son arrived home and observed two men at the rear of the residence loading tools and scrap metal from a barn into a vehicle.
The barn had been previously locked, police said, and the suspects had pried the door open.
The victim called 911 and the suspects entered a car and tried to leave the property, police said.
Their exit attempt failed when they were blocked by the homeowner's front-end loader, police said. The suspects then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
When police arrived, they determined that the vehicle was registered to Walden.
The trooper left the residence and saw Walden walking along Chapman road, police said, and took him into custody.
The second suspect was not located.
Walden was taken to Troop 2 where he was charged and released on a $3,100 unsecured bond.
The second suspect is described as a white male, between 28- and 32-years-old, 6-feet tall and about 170 pounds.
Anyone with information on the man's identity is asked
to call Troop 2 at (302) 834-2620.
