  • A 24-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday after police said she left a baby in a car seat in front of an abandoned residence in the Glasgow Trailer Park.
Abbie Arms, who resides in the 200 block of North Patrice Drive in the trailer park, left a baby in a car seat in front of an empty residence in the 300 block of Glasgow Drive, police said.
Police were called to the scene at 2:10 p.m. after receiving a report that a white female wearing shorts and a multi colored shirt was last seen walking away from the infant, police said.
New Castle County Police said that the baby was uninjured and buckled into the car seat.
Additional officers responded to assist in locating the child's mother. After a lengthy search, police said that they learned the name of the baby and his mother, as well as their address.
Officers responded to a residence on North Patrice Drive and made contact with Arms.
Arms told officers that she was sitting under a tree and received a telephone call about a fight that was going to occur in the area, police said. She became distracted and left the area without her son.
The baby was taken to Christiana Medical Center and admitted for observation.
The Division of Family Services was contacted and given custody of the baby.
Arms was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, police said. She was released on a $240 unsecured bail.
