  • Edwin Charles "Ed" Mortenson, 74, of Middletown, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.
    Born on October 23, 1937 in Rutland, VT, he was the son of the late Helen (Paine) and Bert Edwin Mortenson, Sr.
    Ed was a graduate of Pittsford High School and attended Castleton State College. In March of 1956 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country for the next four years. While living in Vermont, Ed worked for Vermont Marble Company. Following his move to Delaware, he began his career as an electrician with the Town of Middletown.
    He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1295 in Middletown.
    In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 19 years, Virginia M. "Ginger" Mortenson; a brother, Bert Mortenson, Jr.; and a step-son, Gregory E. Watts.
    He is survived by his two daughters, Debra Corliss of Proctor, VT and Linda Fenton of Castleton, VT; Debra's husband, John; Linda's husband, Kevin; step-daughter, Kelly Watts of DE; brother, Daniel Mortenson of Pittsford, VT, two granddaughters, Heather and Tara, four step-granddaughters Amber and Haley of VT and Mandee and Britney of DE; two step-grandsons, Gregory and Gunnar; one step-great-granddaughter, Mackenzie; two step-great-grandsons, Liam and Bentley; brother-in-laws, Roger (Mary) Dutton and Larry Dutton; sister-in-law, Sharon (Boo) Jackson and three nephews Jeff, Dale and Jason Mortenson; several great-nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends.
    Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Friday, October 12 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown, where friends may visit with his family from 11:00 – 12:00. Interment with military honors will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE.
