  • Robert Joseph "Bob" Rybicki, 73, of Middletown, DE passed away after a long and courageous battle with diabetes and kidney disease on Thursday, October 11, 2012 in Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.
    Born on October 20, 1938 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Stanley and Viola (Stolarski) Rybicki.
    He attended St. Hedwig Catholic School and Salesianum High School and later graduated with a business education degree from Drexel University.
    In March of 1960, he joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in December of 1965.
    Mr. Rybicki worked as Director of Credit and Collections for Rollins Leasing LLC/Penske Truck Leasing where he retired after many years of dedicated service.
    He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1992, where he served on the finance council, was a Eucharist Minister, money counter and mentor.
    His greatest joy in life was spending time with his two granddaughters.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Edmond and Chester Rybicki.
    He leaves many wonderful and cherished memories to his loving wife of 28 years, Patricia A. (Meadows) Rybicki; step-daughter, Cheryl Kearns; two special granddaughters, Courtney and Lexi Kearns; godson, Gregory Rybicki; sister-in-laws, Irene Rybicki, Dorothy Parisi, Barbara Calvarese, Joyce (Louis) Lockard and Linda (Frank) Oberly; brother-in-laws, Randy (Esther) Meadows and Walter (Maureen) Fox, as well as many nieces and nephews.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be offered noon on Wednesday, October 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 371 E. Main Street in Middletown, where friends may visit with his family from 11:00-12:00. Interment will be held at a later date in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
    In lieu of flowers, Mr. Rybicki's family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 371 E. Main Street, Middletown, DE 19709.
