  • A 15-year-old girl was killed Oct. 24 after being struck by a car in Bear.
    Police said that the victim was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of U.S. Route 40 near Quintillo Drive at 9:27 p.m. and was hit by a 2007 Nissan Altima.
    The driver of the Altima, Katelyn Nelson, 25, of Elkton, was no injured.
    The pedestrian was running north from the grass median onto the roadway when the car, which was traveling westbound in the center lane, hit her.
    She was taken to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead.
    The victim's name is being withheld pending notification to her next of kin.
    No charges have been filed against Nelson, police said. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the crash.
