  • Some guys will be getting pretty scruffy here in town this month.
    It's No Shave November, yes.
But there's a little something extra to it in M.O.T. this year.
Men who decide to go the month without shaving can donate $5 to the Big Ball Community Fund for the organization's first annual Big Ball's No Shave November.
Participants have already begun sharing pictures of their progress, beginning with their baby-smooth cheeks and five o'clock shadows – which will soon turn into long, tangled mustaches and beards.
At the end of the month, the winner with the crowd-favorite beard will have their shaggy mug put on a coffee mug.
"It's a great way to keep people talking about Big Ball and it provides yet another way to assist your community, while staying within the whimsy of that which is Big Ball," said Kate Rokosz.
Every year, M.O.T. residents come together for the 24-hour Big Ball Marathon at Silver Lake Park, where all donations and proceeds collected go back into the community to help those in need.
The $5 donation can be made on bigball.org, and the only other requirement of the month-long event, is that you can't shave.
The winning beard will be determined by popular vote on the group's Facebook fan page – so make sure you post your progress!
At the 2012 Big Ball Marathon, more than $58,000 was raised to help families in the M.O.T. area.
