A brother and sister were arrested Nov. 2 after a joint investigation led police to their Middletown home where they say the duo was selling marijuana.
At 9:30 a.m., Middletown Police officers arrived at the Dove Run home of Jalea White, 21, and her brother Hassan White, 22, after receiving several complaints that drugs were being sold from the home, police said.
Officers executed a search warrant on the home in the 700 block of Wood Duck Court and detained the Whites, New Castle County Police said. The search turned up nearly 150 grams of marijuana, grinders, and digital scales.
Police found 143 grams of marijuana in Jalea's room and a small amount of synthetic marijuana.
An additional 6.4 grams was found in a drawer in a living room table and inside of a dining room cabinet, police said.
In Hassan's room, officers found baggies commonly used to package marijuana.
The siblings were taken into custody at the County Police headquarters, and police were able to confirm that marijuana was being packaged and sold from the home.
In addition to the drug seizure, police also found more than $5,500 in suspected drug money.
County and Middletown police conducted the investigation into the Dove Run residence to address quality of life issues due to the numerous complaints of drug sales, which were coming from the home, police said.
Jalea was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of synthetic marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was arraigned and released on a $5,000 unsecured bail.
Hassan was charged with possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia and released on a $600 unsecured bail.
