It's about time to deck the halls – and the polls!
Middletown Main Street will be holding it's second annual Lamp Post Decorating Contest, which will kick off Nov. 17 and run through Dec. 17.
Tinsel, garland, and wreaths are beginning to ring in the holiday spirit along Main Street as local businesses begin decorating.
Twelve local businesses will be participating in this year's competition, said Middletown Main Street director Tracy Skrobot.
"The friendly competition will create a festive atmosphere for down town shopping and dining during the holiday season," she said.
Last year's winner, Dogtown Hotdogs, has already decked their lamppost out.
A hot dog dressed as Santa Clause now stands at the corner of Main and Broad Streets, waving to passersby.
Immediato's Bistro came in second place and Femme Fatale Boutique, third place.
The community will vote on lampposts, and participating merchants will have the rules and voting ballots to be filled out.
One vote can be cast per person, per business – but that doesn't mean you can't vote more than once.
Voters can cast their vote at each of the 12 businesses for their favorite holiday lamppost.
Voting will begin on Nov. 17 at the annual Main Street Christmas Parade and will sunset Dec. 17.
Ballot boxes will be located at Dogtown, Immediato's Bistro, Femme Fatale Boutique, A Creative Edge, CKuz Guitars, Elana's Broad St Florist & Décor by Moore, Fromage Cheese Shop, Gibby Art Center, Louis Marie Bridal, Purple Sage Tea & Gifts, Sully's Irish Pub, Dippold Marble & Granite, and Remax 1st Choice – all located downtown.
