  • The Appoquinimink Jaguars boys soccer squad fell to Indian River, 1-0, on Wednesday night in the DIAA Soccer State Tournament quarterfinals.
The lone goal was scored a little over 6 minutes into the game, when sophomore Luis Cruz found the back of the net for IR.
While Appo was able to keep the IR offense under wraps the rest of the game, their offense managed only 2 shots on goal for the game.
The Jags past St. Mark's in the first round of the state tournament, but weren't able to find the offense needed defeat Indian River.
While it's the end of this season, the Jags have plenty to be proud of in this campaign. Appo finished the regular season 11-3-1, and while they will lose some important pieces to graduation there is reason to be optimistic heading into next year.
The Jags have a nice stock of talented underclassmen who will be more than ready to take over the reigns left behind by graduating seniors.
Matthew Dina, Yusef Basma, Sam and Noah Jester, among others will look to lead the Jags to success next year.
