  • Middletown Main Street and local merchants are raising money for victims of Superstorm Sandy through the end of this month.
"We contacted the American Red Cross Wilmington Office and they were thrilled that we in Middletown wanted to help," said Middletown Main Street coordinator Tracy Skrobot.
Sara Shedlosky, of the Red Cross, said that the best way to help at this point would be through cash donations, Skrobot said, so local businesses will set up collection containers to help with this effort.
"Cash enables them to feed, shelter and care for those displaced by the storm," she said.
The businesses will be accepting cash donations from now until Nov. 30.
At the end of the month, Middletown Main Street will collect the funds and send a check for the total dollar amount to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
Collection containers can be found at Femme Fatale Boutique, Purple Sage Gifts, Immediato's Bistro, Middletown Car Care, Premier Centre for the Performing Arts, Dogtown, CKuz Guitars, Louis Marie Bridal Salon, Middletown Hardware, Chick-Fil-A, and Sully's Irish Pub.
