YMCA Delaware is accepting nominations for five acclaimed awards that honor women from the community for their efforts to eliminate racism and inspire and empower women.
Winners of the awards will be honored at the YMCA's Awards Luncheon March 20 at Hotel du Pont in Wilmington. The following are the five awards:
The Trailblazer Award honors a woman who has made outstanding contributions to her profession and/or professional organization through leading initiatives that break new ground for the advancement of women and which distinguish her as a role model in a particular profession or field of work.
The Genevieve Gore Young Woman's Leadership Award honors a young leader who demonstrates a strong commitment to social justice.
The Leadership in Racial Justice Award honors a woman with outstanding commitment to eliminating racism and fostering social justice by eliminating barriers to equal access to social advancement for all people.
The Rita Turner Award honors a woman who exemplifies both empowering women and eliminating racism, actively engaging women within her company and/or community and serving as a mentor to young women.
The Advancement of Women Award honors a woman for her exceptional commitment to the mission of YWCA Delaware to empower women to realize their full potential in business, home, political and community endeavors and encourages others to serve as advocates for social change.
