  • Lauren Kaminski and Nicole Schneider combined for 16 points to lead the Charter Lady Force to their second win in three games on the young season in a 54-29 victory over Middletown Thursday night.
Charter's offense proved to be too quick, too strong and too determined for the Lady Cavaliers, who's record fell to 1-3. Not only was the Force's offense running at full throttle, but the defense was equally tough, holding the Cavaliers to single digits in three of the four periods.
In the first period, it was almost "no-contest" as the Force worked quickly and efficiently to build a 13-5 lead. The second quarter was much like the first, with Charter racing up and down the court, scoring baskets and preventing Middletown from matching shots. In fact, Middletown had difficulty scoring until the final stanza.
By halftime, the Cavs trailed 28-10.
Middletown began to work their offense a little better in the third period, but still missed a number of shots and scored only six points, and fell behind even further at 40-16. In addition, the defense was unable all evening to solve the riddle of the hot-shooting Force.
Middletown's sharpshooters began to find the range in the fourth quarter. But despite the better execution, the Cavaliers were unable to put a big dent in their deficit, and finally fell to Charter 54-29.
Kaminski and Schneider each scored 8 points for Charter, while Kylie Shivery and Alena Foley both had seven, and Samantha Cammisa and Neelam Modi each had six points. Charter's next game will be played Tuesday, Dec. 18 at home against Delcastle.
Middletown was led in scoring by Allison Brinson with 12 points, while Prestina Lanier added 7, and Charis Hill chipped in with 4 points. Before taking a Holiday break, the Cavaliers will host A.I. DuPont on Tuesday Dec. 18 at 5:15 p.m.
