At around 8:26 p.m. Dec. 15, police said that the suspect confronted the 57-year-old employee as he exited the rear of the Townsend restaurant to empty the trash.
Delaware State Police are looking for a man who chased an employee of the Hearth Restaurant with a handgun and tried to rob him Saturday night.
At around 8:26 p.m., police said that the suspect confronted the 57-year-old employee as he exited the rear of the Townsend restaurant to empty the trash.
The suspect, who police said is between 17 and 35 years old, then displayed a handgun.
The employee and suspect struggled.
The employee eventually broke free and ran back into the kitchen, police said.
The suspect chased the employee into the kitchen and several other employees locked themselves in a bathroom.
The suspect kicked open the bathroom door and demanded money. Another employee, age 58, struggled with the suspect, who eventually fled through the back door.
Nothing was stolen from the restaurant, police said.
Hearth Restaurant is located at 3147 DuPont Parkway in Townsend.
Police describe the suspect as a black male, about 5'7" tall and 155 pounds, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
State Police are asking anyone who may have information in reference to the incident to contact the Robbery Unit at Troop 2 at (302) 834-2630 Ext. 6.
