  • Middletown Police cited a woman for failing to yield right of way after she struck another car and overturned her own vehicle.
On Dec. 17 at around 4:23 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Middletown-Odessa Road and Gloucester Blvd. for a personal injury accident.
Police said that the two car collision was caused by Jocelyn A. Balan, 52, of Middletown, when her 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor struck a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt being driven by a Smyrna woman.
The impact of the collision caused Balan's vehicle to overturn into the northbound lanes of Gloucester Boulevard, police said.
Police said that Balan was traveling east on Middletown-Odessa Road and as she began to turn south onto Gloucester Boulevard, she struck the passenger side of the Chevrolet, which was traveling east on Middletown-Odessa Road.
Balan was taken to St. Francis Hospital where she was treated for minor lacerations. Her car sustained heavy damage to its passenger side and roof.
She was cited with failing to yield right of way to oncoming traffic.
Odessa EMS personnel treated the Smyrna woman on scene for minor injuries.
The Chevrolet sustained heavy front-end damage, police said.
