  • County Police arrest N.Y. man with nearly 500 grams of "high-grade" marijuana

  • A traffic stop on Interstate 95 led to the arrest of a New York man who police said had nearly 500 grams of high-grade marijuana in his vehicle.
    County Police arrested Harry Edwards, 23, who resides in the 100 block of Hudson Street in New York, Jan. 5 in the area of I-95 and the Route 273 interchange.
    Police who were conducting proactive patrols in the New Castle area that night said that Edwards was speeding in the southbound lanes of I-95 at around 11:45 p.m.
    Edwards was weaving his red Nissan in and out of traffic, police said.
    A short time later, police stopped Edwards in the area of Route 273.
    The officers who made contact with Edwards said that they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming form the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
    Edwards exited the vehicle, which police searched, finding several bags in the car filled with marijuana.
    Officers seized 494.86 of high-grade marijuana from Edwards' vehicle, police said.
    Edwards was charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding.
    He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correction Institute after failing to post a $8,500 secured bail.
