  • The 2012 M.O.T. Salvation Army Kettle Campaign bought in more than $23,000 this year.
This year's total fell short of last year's record breaking $24,882, but not by a lot.
The more than 130 volunteers who donated their time during this past holiday season raised $23,160 during the month long campaign, said Jim Young, kettle coordinator.
More than 500 volunteer hours were put in between November and December at various locations in the M.O.T. area.
"We continue to see outstanding participation from all parts of our community and want tot thank each and every one for their time and generosity," Young said. "As we all know the economy has struggled even while we face an increased need for services."
Even though the holidays have come and gone, the Salvation Army is still accepting donations.
Anyone who wishes to still contribute can text 80888 SADEL and a one-time donation of $10 will be billed to your mobile phone.
Though the 2013 holiday season is months away, volunteers are already being encouraged to sign up for next year's kettle campaign.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Jim Young at (302) 373-8200 or by email at jimmybacon@yahoo.com
