A wanted man was arrested for shoplifting from the Middletown Wal-Mart last night after police said they found him hiding in a field.
Malacia Dubruce, 40, of New Castle, exited the Wal-Mart on Middletown-Warwick Road with about $250 worth of unpaid merchandise, police said.
Officers from the Middletown Police Department were called to the store at around 9:10 p.m. Jan. 15 and told by store loss prevention that Debruce left the store without paying for his items.
Debruce, who fled the store, was located by police in a field near the Amazon.com warehouse on U.S. Route 301.
An article track with the assistance of K-9 Nitro recovered the stolen property, which had been left under a wheel and a RV trailer, police said.
According to police, Debruce has been previously arrested and banned from Wal-Mart stores.
Debruce had also been wanted by Delaware State Police on several shoplifting warrants.
He was committed to the Howard Young Correctional Center in lieu of $1,800 cash bail.
