Some local roads will be affected by closures this month as DelDOT makes repairs to them.
Constructions of the Route 7/ Newtown Road Improvement Project will require left turn restrictions both in and out of the Route 7/ Bear Christiana Road and School Bell Road intersection beginning 8 p.m. Jan. 28.
Travel lane closures may occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, pending weather.
The turning movement restrictions, which will remain in effect for the duration of the project, are necessary due to the removal of an existing raised concrete median along Route 7/Bear Christiana Road which currently allows for a two-stage left turn movement from westbound School Bell Road to southbound Route 7/Bear Christiana Road.
The $5.9 million project improvements being made include constructing a storm water management pong, relocating water, gas and sewer lines, placing drainage pipes, inlets and under drain pipe systems, and constructing a curb, gutter, and side walk.
There will also be the construction of a mechanically stabilized earth wall, and the milling and reconstruction of roadway.
