Valentine's Day is just a week away, meaning there are only a few days left to plan that special something for that special someone in your life.
Chocolates, jewelry, and cards can be found at most stores, but there are other ways to surprise your sweetheart – or ways to just show them how much they mean to you.
Roses are always popular, local florists say, whether they're for a man or a woman, and who wouldn't enjoy a nice night out for two?
Here are a few specials that are just around the corner here in Middletown if you're stumped on an idea or just looking for something different:
- The Odessa National Golf Club in Townsend will be featuring its Sweetheart Menu Thursday, Feb. 14. For $60, two people can share an appetizer, order two entrees, and a dessert to finish off the night. Bottles of wine will be $15 and martinis will be $5. For reservations call (302) 464-1008. The Odessa National Golf Club is located at 1131 Fieldsboro Road.
- Gifts can be found all over town, including in many shops on Main Street. Up and down Main Street in Middletown are many local businesses with great gifts inside – jewelry, candles, chocolates, and more. If your closer to Townsend, Willey Farms, on Dupont Parkway, also has chocolates, fudge, Yankee candles, lotions, and other gifts to indulge in.
- Elana's Broad Street Florist is featuring something special to give to your man this Valentine's Day! Ladies can have a Panty-Gram delivered to their boyfriends or husbands for $30! Owner Elana Jackson said the Panty-Gram is popular this year, and that she recommends adding a little message to the package, which includes a pair of panties, a rose, and chocolates in the Zebra print bag. The panties are all sexy Valentine's Day themed and range in styles from thongs to boy shorts – or you can put your own pair of lingerie in!
"I suggest putting a little note in that says, 'Can't wait to see you tonight'," Jackson said.
- Middletown Area Chamber of Commerce director Roxane Ferguson said that several restaurants in town will be having specials for dinner Feb. 14, including Immediatos's Italian Bistro on Main Street, 1861 on North Broad Street, and Cantwell's Tavern on Main Street in Odessa.
