A Mini Cooper was struck by a pick-up truck Feb. 7 on Del. Route 299 west of Gloucester Blvd., the second crash that afternoon in that area.
At around 1:55 p.m. Middletown Police responded to a personal injury crash in the east bound lanes of Route 299, where they learned that a 2008 Ford pick-up truck being driven by a 43-year-old Middletown resident struck the rear of the 2007 Mini Cooper being driven by a 53-year-old Middletown resident.
Traffic was moving slowly as a prior crash was still being investigated at the oncoming intersection, police said.
The Cooper came to a stop for the slow moving traffic when it was struck in the rear by the pick-up truck, which continued for several hundred feet before coming to a stop.
The Cooper's entire rear end was demolished, disabling the vehicle, and the pick-up truck's front end was entirely damaged, police said.
The driver of the Cooper was transported to the Christiana Medical Center by Middletown Volunteer Fire and Hose Ambulance.
The Driver of the pick-up was uninjured and he was issued a citation for Inattentive Driving.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene
