It was any easy game from start to finish as the Appoquinimink girls handed the Middletown Lady Cavaliers a season ending 44-23 loss on the Cavaliers' Senior Night.
Right from the start, The Lady Jaguars exploded for 22 points in the first quarter to essentially put the game out of reach of the low scoring Lady Cavaliers. The pace slowed considerably in the second quarter with each team scoring a mere two points each to end the half at 24-5. The Appoquinimink defense did a great job throughout the game blocking shots, stealing passes and getting the majority of rebounds, but ultimately, Middletown's offense had trouble putting the ball in the basket.
The pace quickened in the third quarter with the Jags scoring 17 points as Appo coach Micah Edwards began to substitute freely. In the fourth quarter, Middletown outscored the Jags 11-3 to the enjoyment of the home crowd, which gave the team a nice ovation for hustle at the end of the game.
Jaguars' Paris Christie led all scores with 12 points and Taylor Bond had 8 points. Charis Hill led the Cavs with 9 points.
The three Cavalier seniors, guard Prestina Lanier, guard Brianna Rodriguez and forward Alicia Brinson were honored before the opening tipoff.
Middletown ends its long season with a 2-18 record.
