  • It's all about love -- in many ways.
The fifth annual Middletown Bridal Expo will be held Sunday, March 3 and a portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the M.O.T. Big Ball Marathon.
From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., this first class event will be held at Middletown Memorial Hall, with more than 30 vendors on hand, said coordinator Kate Rokosz.
It will be a fun, informative event that no bride will want to miss, she said.
Several hundred people attend each year.
There will be hors d'oeuvres, cake tastings, fashions, show discounts and a cash bar serving up beer, wine, and other mixed drinks.
The expo will also host the first ever Delaware Diamond Cake Dive!
Rokosz, a Middletown resident, is the mastermind behind the event.
"I wanted to provide an opportunity for area businesses to band together toward a common market and expand their advertising dollar," she said. "Nothing of the sort was being done mid-state and it was time to showcase the array of talent and services available to the local bride."
Her primary focus is keeping the day affordable and classy on every level, while making sure there is plenty of interactive fun.
Anything and everything for that special day can be found at the Middletown Bridal Expo, she said.
"You will meet firsthand with the photographers, honeymoon experts, wedding planners, florists, caterers, bakers, jewelers, hairstylists, and more," Rokosz said.
At 2 p.m., the models will make their way down the catwalk, showing off the latest and most stunning bridal fashions in a show designed by Middletown's own Louis Marie Bridal.
"Throughout the day, brides will also be able to see up close and feel the beautiful gowns as models stroll through the show," Rokosz said.
Expo attendees will also get the chance to sit in the limo, hear the harper play and wedding DJs spin, try out the photo booths, and maybe even win one of 30 door prizes! A winner will be chosen every 10 minutes that afternoon.
At 3 p.m., a pair of diamond earrings will be given out as a prize and six lucky brides will be chosen to dive in at the Delaware Diamond Cake Dive, where the winner will find a beautiful set of half carat diamond earrings, Rokosz said. These sparkling prizes all come courtesy of Del Haven Jewelers of Wilmington.
Even if you win one of these wonderful prizes at 3 p.m., don't leave quite yet. At 4 p.m. as the show closes, there will be a white dove release to wrap up the day.
Yes, it will be a day of love, as it has been for the past four years.

The love also goes to the community, with a portion of the tickets sales going to the Big Ball fund.
Rokosz works very closely with the M.O.T. Big Ball Marathon, which is committed to raising money to assist individuals, families in need, charities and organizations M.O.T. area.
