  • 2013 Mayor's Ball benefits local causes Saturday

  • Mayor John P. Buchheit of Delaware City will be hosting the second annual "First State Mayor's Charity Ball," a black-tie event at the Delaware City Fire Company's ballroom on Saturday.
    Proceeds will benefit Fort Delaware State Park. In addition, the event will benefit the Friends of the African Union Church Cemetery, based in Delaware City, as the local recipient of funding from the event. The goal is to restore the historic cemetery along the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.
    CRANK UP THE 'JUKEBOXX'
    Headlining the event will be "Jukeboxx." The seven-piece is known for energizing listeners with popular covers spanning genres of R&B, pop, funk, rock and more.
    Jukeboxx features world-class musician's who've performed with acclaimed artists including Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Jodeci.
    Gourmet hors d'oeuvre, carving stations and decadent desserts will be available throughout the evening. Drinks will also be available at the open bar and martini ice lounge.
