  • George W. Asbury, age 82, of Bear, DE went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 22, 2013, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Asbury was a long time member of Fairwinds Baptist Church and volunteered for many church functions and ministries. He retired from the Chrysler Assembly Plant in 1989 after 30 years of service. George served our country in the US Army.
    Mr. Asbury is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty M. Asbury; children, Patricia D. Hill and husband Richard, Larry W. Asbury and wife Donna, and Darryl W. Asbury and wife Dawn; brother, Hubert Asbury and sister, Pauline Cox ; grandchildren, Jennifer, Andrew, Kailyn, Sarah and Lindsey. He is preceded in death by brothers, James and Harry and sisters, Katie, Margaret and Helen.
    A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 in Fairwinds Baptist Church, 801 Seymour Rd., Bear, DE 19701 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and again on Thursday, Feb. 28th from 10:00 to 11:00 am followed by a service in celebration of George’s life at 11:00 am. Burial will be Friday, March 1st at 10:00 am in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to either Fairwinds Baptist Church Pavilion Fund, in c/o the church or Delaware Hospice, 3510 Silverside Rd., Wilm., DE 19810. The family also wishes to acknowledge the special care received from Dr. Stephen Grubbs and staff at the Helen Graham Cancer Center.
