  • A 20-year-old Newark man was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 1 near Townsend on Thursday morning.
Zachary Magner suffered a non-life-threatening head wound in the crash and was flown to Christiana Hospital, according to Delaware State police spokesman Cpl. John Day.
Magner’s condition was not available Thursday afternoon.
The crash reportedly occurred about 6:30 a.m. near Blackbird Creek, just south of Townsend, when a southbound 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 20-year-old Newark resident Brett Clancy, rear-ended Magner’s 2001 Jeep Cherokee.
The collision forced Magner’s Jeep into the median, where it overturned before coming to rest on its side in the northbound lanes of the freeway, Day said.
Clancy, who was not injured, later received a traffic summons for inattentive driving.
