Applications are currently being accepted for the Ryan R. Wagner Memorial Scholarship.
The scholarship honors Townsend resident Ryan Wagner, a 17-year-old senior at Middletown High School, who died Feb. 24, 2011.
Applicants for the scholarship must be a graduating senior from Middletown, Appoquinimink or St. Georges Technical High School who have been accepted at the University of Delaware and plan to study engineering.
A letters of recommendation from a guidance counselor and teacher must accompany applications.
A committee will evaluate applicants based on academic achievement, community service and involvement in school activities or athletics.
The deadline for applications is April 1.
The number and dollar amount of scholarships varies, and students may reapply for continued support. Last year, $5,000 was awarded between two applicants.

The third-annual 5K Run/Walk For Ryan, which raises for money for the scholarship, will be held at Middletown High School on May 19.
