  • Smyrna man arrested in Kent County Courthouse incident

  • Capitol Police arrested a Smyrna man March 20 in connection with an incident that occurred at the Kent County Courthouse.
    Michael Dorris, 36, was escorted out of a courtroom by court bailiffs after becoming loud and boisterous, police said. Capitol Police officers intervened when Dorris started yelling obscenities. Police said when officers attempted to place Dorris under arrested, he was accused of fighting with the officers. Capitol Police then physically subdued him.
    Dorris was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief. He was video arraigned with Justice of the Peace Court No. 2 and released on a $3,000 unsecured bond for a future court appearance.
