  • Hundreds of young musicians performed in front of their peers Thursday at the Fourth Annual Appoquinimink Band Festival.
The event, held at Middletown High School, is intended to provide students from schools throughout the Appoquinimink School District with an opportunity to see each other perform and encourage ongoing participation in band from elementary through high school, according to Brian Endlein, director of the Middletown High School Symphonic Band.
"It's a chance for the fifth graders to see what the middle schools are doing and for the middle school students to see what the high school bands are doing," he said. "I think all the performances this year were great, especially considering that it's still early in the school year."
Bands from Bunker Hill Elementary, Redding Middle, Waters Middle, Meredith Middle, Appoquinimink High and Middletown High performed at this year's festival, along with the ASD Combined Middle School Honors Band.
