While struggling to get drywall into his basement, Chris Pechacek of Hudson, Wisconsin, designed a structure to help him move it through the basement window. He built a 2x4 stand that supports the drywall (or any sheet goods) at an angle so the material can slide through the window diagonally. A 1/8-in. plastic-laminate lining on the bottom 2x4 reduces friction. Now Chris simply sets his materials on the rack, walks to the basement and pulls them in.
