A 20-year-old Townsend man is facing criminal charges after allegedly driving his pick-up truck into at least 15 mailboxes last month.
Billy Moffett was arrested Monday after police were able link his Ford truck to the mailbox damages, according to Delaware State Police spokesman Cpl. John Day.
Troopers received 15 reports of mailboxes having been damaged overnight along roads in Townsend and Smyrna on March 28.
Police were able to identify the type of vehicle used in the vandalism spree and later located a pickup truck matching that description that had suffered damage consistent with having struck several mailboxes, Day said.
Troopers were then able to link Moffett to the crimes, he added.
Moffett was arraigned on 15 counts of criminal mischief under $1,500 and later released on a $1,500 unsecured bail.
He also is required to abide by a curfew as a condition of his release, Day said.
