Two Middletown HS graduates, who now play baseball for Delaware State University, earned MEAC honors last week.

Two Middletown HS graduates show their talent on the college level, and were rewarded last week for their excellent play.

Delaware State senior Ryan Haas earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors in baseball, the conference announced on Monday. Teammate Elliott Gardner was named Pitcher of the Week.

Haas (1B, 6-1, 225, Sr., Bear, Del.) batted .667 (6-for-9), including six runs scored, three doubles and nine RBI to aid the Hornets to a 3-0 conference series victory over Maryland Eastern Shore last week. Haas stole a base and added 25 putouts in the victories. He also posted a .750 on-base percentage for the week.

Gardner (P, 6-2, 185, Sr., Middletown, Del.) earned the win with a 0.00 ERA in 7.0 innings against Maryland Eastern Shore. Gardner did not allow any runs earned or unearned and struck out five of the 23 batters he faced.
